Walker Community Park
Local Distributor: NSP3
The community of Galt, CA has made parks and recreation a priority, and has several parks within the town limits. The new Walker Community Park is named after the Walker family, from whom the 40 acres of farm land was purchased in 2004. To pay homage to the land’s former life, the playground was developed with a custom farm theme.
“The theme came together for the playground in the various elements like the structure that looks a bit like a silo, the barn door structures, the PlayDozer that looks like a tractor, all reinforcing the agricultural theme,” states Bill Forrest, Senior Civil Engineer, Public Works Department of Galt.
In addition to the playground, a parking lot, and both real and artificial turf soccer fields have all been developed. There are even plans to build five two softball fields, an access road, concession area, community center, courts for basketball and tennis, and an additional playground.
