Changing our company to change the world
Playworld Systems is proud to have eliminated 99.999% of PVCs from our products. And we will remove the remaining .001% as soon as alternative supplies are available.
How can we do this? With Eco-Armor®, our durable, thermoplastic Polyethylene (PE) coating. PE coatings like Eco-Armor average a 38% lower carbon footprint than PVC coatings. And Eco-Armor is not only safe and easy to dispose of, it’s also phthalate free, lead free, and cadmium free, making it safe for our environment and our health.
Understand Your Options: Eco-Armor Vs PVCs
Compared to PVC coatings, Eco-Armor isn’t just better for the environment—it’s a better investment for your playspace. In fact, Eco-Armor is:
- Free from phthalates, lead, and cadmium, all of which can be potentially harmful components of PVC.
- Meets state and federal requirements for phthalates and heavy metal content.
- Safely recycled, unlike PVC, which requires controlled incineration because it releases dioxins. Less than 0.5% of all PVC is recycled!
- More wear-resistant and weather-resistant than PVC, so it lasts longer.
- Less porous than PVC, so not as susceptible to mold growth and dirt build-up.
- More slip-resistant, thanks to its textured finish.

An Ongoing Commitment to Healthy Materials
The PVC-Free Pledge is just one of the ways we’re doing our part to eliminate potentially harmful materials from the playground and our planet.
- All Playworld Systems packaging meets the standards established by the Council of Northeast Governors’ Toxics in Packaging legislation, which requires that packaging be free of added lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and mercury.
- Instead of only eliminating the six designated phathales restricted in the California AB 1108 Bill, Playworld Systems has gone above and beyond the bill, removing all phthalates from our products and packaging
